How much does a personal AI assistant cost?
Twains costs $39 per month. That covers your encrypted server with 50 GB of storage, mailbox sync, reminders and WhatsApp. The assistant itself runs on your own Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise), which Anthropic bills separately.
How do I get my own personal AI assistant?
Subscribe to Twains and your server opens within minutes. Sign in with your Claude account once, upload your documents and connect your mailbox. From then on you talk to your assistant in Claude on the web, desktop or phone, or on WhatsApp.
What makes Twains a private AI assistant?
Your documents and emails live on a server that belongs to you, on a disk encrypted with its own key. Your server is isolated from other users, nobody on our team reads your content in normal operation, and nothing is used to train AI models. When you delete your account, the disk is destroyed together with its key.
Is there a private version of ChatGPT?
Twains works with Claude, not ChatGPT. If what you are looking for is an assistant that reads your own files and email without putting them in a shared workspace, Twains gives your Claude account its own encrypted server for exactly that.
Do I need a Claude subscription?
Yes. Your assistant runs on your own paid Claude plan: Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. Usage counts against that plan's limits, and you keep full control of the account.
Will the assistant send emails on my behalf?
Not on its own. It saves replies to your Drafts folder. If you ask it to send an email, it shows you the full message on WhatsApp or in your panel, and it is sent from your own mailbox only after you tap Send.
Which files can it read?
PDF files including scanned ones, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, UDF, images such as TIFF and HEIC, saved emails and plain text. Scanned pages are converted to text automatically. Voice messages you send on WhatsApp are transcribed on your server; audio files in your documents are not read yet.
Which mailboxes can I connect?
Gmail and Google Workspace, Yandex, iCloud, Yahoo, Zoho and any mailbox that supports IMAP. You connect it with an app password, which is stored encrypted.
Can it make mistakes?
Yes, like any AI. Twains asks the assistant to give the file and page behind every fact, to say clearly when it cannot find something and to tell you which files it could not read. For important decisions, check the source it shows you.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of the paid period. After that your server stops, and 30 days later the disk is permanently destroyed together with its encryption key. You can export everything as a ZIP file at any time.
Do I need technical knowledge?
No. We run the server, the security and the updates. You subscribe, sign in with Claude and add your files.
Is Twains made by Anthropic?
No. Twains is an independent service that connects your own Claude account to a private server. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic.
